Supporting Members

ARIPPA affiliate membership includes independent power plants in New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

The three affiliate member plants in West Virginia utilize coal refuse for fuel; two affiliate member plants in Pennsylvania use waste wood; one affiliate member in Pennsylvania is a proposed waste coal plant.

American Bituminous Power Partners
Grant Town, West Virginia

This is an 80 megawatt facility equipped with two Pyropower circulating fluidized bed boilers burning bituminous coal waste from active and inactive sites. This plant began commercial operations June 1993.

Black River Generation, LLC

Fort Drum, New York

With three circulating fluidized bed boilers this 55 megawatt facility burns a blended mixture of bituminous coal & pet coke.  This plant began operating for the Army in January 1988.  In April 1999 the contract was cancelled and the plant began operating commercially.

This is a 50 megawatt facility equipped with two circulating fluidized bed boilers burning primarily a bituminous waste coal mixture. This plant began commercial operations in 1992.

Viking Energy of Northumberland

Northumberland, Pennsylvania

This 16.2 megawatt cogeneration facility is located in eastern Pennsylvania. The plant burns waste wood and natural gas to generate electricity. It also provides steam to Furmano Foods, a local cannery. The plant began operating in 1988.
